The Lakeland Center
September 10 & 11, 2016 - The Lakeland Center
FIRE!

About the Repticon FIRExpo Show:
The Florida International Reptile Expo (FIRE), since its debut in 2004, has been hosted at the Orlando Centroplex Expo Center, The Orange County Convention Center, the Ramada Celebration Resort and Convention Center, and the Doubletree by Hilton at the Entrance to Universal Orlando. Now experience the lastest excitement of the FIRExpo at its new location at the fine Lakeland Center facility in September of 2013. FIRE was the first Repticon show held at this facility, which offers a great advantage over previous FIRE venues by having ample room to contain and expand FIRE, which always sells out early to vendors and has pushed the limits of each facility where it ran. Lakeland also is located directly between two of Repticon's strongest markets in the entire nation, Orlando and Tampa, so expect a thrilling show with herpers attending from all over central Florida! Join us again in 2016 for what will promise to be another historic event filled with top-quality reptiles and amphibians, presentations, and more!

AUCTION! - The Crocodilian Conservation Center of Central FL, Inc.

Please join the auction to benefit the new facility of The Crocodilian Conservation Center of Florida, Inc. The auction will take place at our FIRExpo (Lakeland) show on Saturday night at The Lakeland Center from 6:00pm- 8:00pm.

The Crocodilian Conservation Center of Florida, Inc. (CCCF) is dedicated to promoting awareness and crocodilians by providing support for both ex-situ captive breeding programs and in-situ projects designed to protect vital habitat and encourage local community involvement.

The CCCF was founded as a non-profit organization in 2010 by several members of the IUCN-SSC Crocodile Specialist Group; Bruce Shwedick, the late Ralf Sommerlad and Colin Stevenson. The initial goal of the CCCF is establish a crocodilian holding facility and interpretive center on sixteen acres of land near Frostproof, Florida. This facility will provide urgently needed holding space for critically endangered crocodilians that are currently managed in captivity as a part of the AZA’s (American Zoo & Aquarium Society) Species Survival Plans and Studbooks. This will include constructing secure and spacious facilities for Chinese alligators, Cuban crocodiles, Orinoco crocodiles and Tomistoma. This facility will also include facility access for researchers, visitors and a venue for conservation fund raising events.
Wild populations of many species of crocodilians have recovered around the globe from their former threatened or endangered status due to effective conservation measures and sustainable management programs. However, eight species remain endangered, six of these critically. Some of these endangered crocodilians lack the valuable skins that have made sustainable management programs so successful for other species. Some of them live in countries where sustainable use of wildlife is not an option. Most of them continue to be threatened with extinction as a result of habitat degradation and loss, pollution, and in some cases, hybridization. Some continue to be killed illegally for their skins, their meat or because they are perceived to be a threat to human safety, livestock or fisheries.

FAQ
(Frequently Asked Questions)

Thank you for visiting the Repticon FAQ page. If the answer to your question isn’t on the page, please shoot us an email at RepticonEvents@repticon.com or visit our contacts page.

Vendor Questions:

Q. Are there any restrictions on the products or animals that can be sold at Repticon?

A. All animals must be healthy and legal to sell within the state. Vendors who intentionally and repeatedly offer illegal or unhealthy animals for sale may be banned from future shows.

Q. What if something is stolen from my table?

A. Each exhibitor is expected to appropriately display their materials and staff their tables in order to prohibit shoplifting or theft. Repticon is not responsible for any theft before, during, or after each event. If you see something that doesn’t look right, please tell us as soon as possible. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE SHOW!

Q. How do I book tables at the show? Do I have to pre-pay?

A. To book tables at a Repticon show, either utilize the online booking form here, or contact the Vendor Coordinator for the state in which the show is held, listed here. Although pre-payment is appreciated, vendors in good standing who have vended at prior Repticon expos are not required to pre-pay for tables.

Vendors who have never vended at a Repticon expo must submit a $50 deposit upon booking to secure tables. This $50 deposit is credited towards the total payment due at the show. (For example, a first-time vendor booking one table must submit $50 upon booking, with a balance due of $45 at the show, for a total table cost of $95.

Q. Do I need a banner and fancy neon sign?

A. No neon sign required. However, each exhibitor is expected to create a professional, attractive display area in their space. It is now mandatory that Vendors must have a tablecloth to cover all their tables. If necessary, Repticon will provide them at $3 per table.

Q. Can I let guests hold the animals?

A. Exhibitors who choose to remove non-venomous animals from their enclosures or allow guests to handle their animals are responsible for maintaining control of the animals at all time. Each exhibitor is exclusively liable for any damage to property or personal injury resulting from handling of their live animals on the host facility premises.

Q. An animal escaped...it was my mom’s favorite! What do I do?

A. Each exhibitor is responsible for ensuring that no animals leave their exhibit area unless under the control of an employee or customer. Each vendor is responsible for recapturing any escaped animals without unreasonable disruption to other exhibitors or guests. Any escaped animals must be immediately reported to Repticon. Any lost animals that are found after event hours or after the event closes become the property of Repticon, with no obligation for return to the original owner.

Q. Are there restrictions about Wild-Caught Animals?

A. There is no restriction regarding the sale of legal, wild-caught animals. Exhibitors are not required to display any particular signage, but are required to disclose any pertinent information to interested guests, including whether a particular animal is wild-caught or captive bred.

Guest Questions:

Q. Can I bring beer or funny drugs to the show?

A. No alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs are allowed in any Repticon show, and WE WILL ASK YOU TO LEAVE.

Q . Can I hold an animal at the show?

A. Each exhibitor is different so please ask before touching and always use hand sanitizer!

Q. Can I bring my personal animals to Repticon?

A. Guests can bring up to two animals inside the event. We feel strongly that this interaction will provide guests with an additional opportunity to engage in discussion with exhibitors and will generate excitement among event attendees. Animals brought by guests to the event must be in good health and under their control at all times. Any guests who violate that policy will be asked to leave the show.

Q. Can I sell my personal animals at the show?

A. Guests may not bring animals into the event for the purpose of selling them at the event, as only show vendors with appropriate permits may sell animals. Any guests who violate that policy will be asked to leave the show.

Q. Can I bring a venomous animal to a show?

A. Even though we have “hot” shows, venomous animals are never allowed to be brought in to our shows. We have very strict protocols that we follow and want to guarantee the safety of all our guests and exhibitors.

Q. How much are tickets?

A. You can purchase tickets HERE.

Q. You give away FREE animals on FaceBook! How do I win?

A. To learn more about our photo contests, click HERE.

Q. I think an animal is sick or has mites...what do I do?

A. First, talk to the vendor. If you need more assistance, you can always talk to one of the Repticon staff at the Info Booth.

Q. Please tell me, just one more time, what are the show hours?

A. Show hours are: Saturday: 10:00am-5:00pm (VIP Entry at 9:00 am) and Sunday: 10:00am-4:00pm (No VIP Early Entry)
