As the population base in Eastern
Louisiana has shifted North over the past few years, demand has grown
for a Reptile Expo North of the New Orleans metro area. In July of 2010
Repticon met that demand with the debut of Repticon Baton Rouge!
Hosted at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center just South of Baton Rouge and one
hour North of New Orleans, Repticon Baton Rouge featured an exciting mix
of local vendors and top vendors from throughout the South. After a
great debut and another ever busier show in March of 2011, the show did spectacular business in July of the same year. Get ready for great things in 2012 as the ongoing ultimate Louisiana reptile experience continues with Repticon Baton Rouge! New! Repticon Baton Rouge is now a Venomous Included show! Reptile Care 101
Get started out right as local favorite Pet Planet USA will facilitate a seminar: Reptiles 101: Husbandry and Shedding. Learn basic reptile care in a great presentation for starters and also old pros who want to make sure they are doing everything right, and . . . plan to meet some live reptiles along the journey!
Miss Dixie's Reptile Experience!!
Interact with a host of animals as Angie Pridmore from Texas Reptile Exchange will be giving a hands on presentation as only she knows how in "Miss Dixie's Reptile Experience." Expect, among several animals, a caiman, burmese python, tarantula, bearded dragon, and lots of fun! Don't miss your chance to encounter these fabulous animals in a memorable way.
If you are looking on gettng your first reptile pet, meet up with David Ballard of Animal Trax, a former educator who will be speaking on how to pick that first reptile, discussing what makes a good beginner pet, considerations when selecting a reptile, and responsible pet ownership. He will have live animals on hand to demonstrate these "best of" pets, all which will be available to interact with guests.
Dragons!
Lynn Benjamin from Carolina Designer Dragons will be on hand to share her knowledge on the proper care of Australia's most famous export, the Bearded Dragon!
Arachnids!
Mike Dean from Exotic Kingdom will be giving a presentation focusing on various arachnids. As a breeder of these creatures, he is the man to learn from if you are into animals that even some herpers think are creepy and crawly. If you like tarantulas, scorpions, and other spiders, stop by to see them up close and personal!
The Repticon Dragon Drawing
Hurricane Dragons will be donating a Bearded Dragon for a free raffle. The Dragon will be raffled on Saturday just before 1:00pm and the winner must be present to claim the pet as a prize. Please inquire at the Info table at the show on how to enter the drawing for this special door prize.
